Matt Shortis

Matt Shortis — Festival Art & Interactive Installations Humming Hut 2026

Festival installations and interactive art pieces built with micro-electronics, LEDs, and projection mapping — work under the name Matt Shortis.

The practice is multi-format: solving creative problems live on site, leading art-teams through build weeks, and programming the DMX and lighting that runs the show around the art. Signature pieces include hand-built wizard staffs packed with LEDs and sound-reactive features — interactive art you can carry and perform with.

Artist & DJ — Two Modalities

Ngahere Toa

Ngahere Toa is the artist name — a practice that runs two ways: a DJ side and a composition side, both under the same name.

DJ work

Festival DJ Sets

Underground EDM festival sets — reading a floor and holding energy through a long set, mixing with intent rather than habit.

Composition work

Sound Journeys

Longer-form "sound journeys" built for immersive listening rather than the dancefloor. Composition work is in active development; hear the evolving catalog on SoundCloud.

3D Printing, Micro-Electronics & Smart Home

Triskelle 3D

3D print & build Interactive Brain Midi Controller

The making side of the practice — turning filament, microcontrollers, and sensors into things that print, move, react, and report back.

Triskelle 3D covers 3D printing, micro-electronics, and smart-home territory: printed parts and enclosures, microcontrollers wired into real builds, and Home Assistant installs that tie it all together. From one-off art hardware to practical home automation, it's the hands-on engineering that holds the whole touring practice together.
